Each team hosts its own backyard ultra following the same format: runners complete a 6.7 km loop every hour, on the hour, until only one remains. Team scores are based on the total number of laps completed collectively, making it a true test of endurance, strategy, and teamwork.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event was created by Gary Cantrell (aka \u201cLazarus Lake\u201d), founder of the original <strong>Big Dog\u2019s Backyard Ultra<\/strong> in Bell Buckle, Tennessee, USA\u2014now the global headquarters of the format and host of the <strong>individual World Championships<\/strong>. This race is held every second year, alternating with the team event.
